Maintenance and care

The leather boots from Bootstock are produced in Portugal and India and are of high quality. Leather is a natural product, so it can sometimes happen that a limited contrast is visible, because every pair of boots is unique.

To maintain the Bootstock boots as well as possible, we share the following advice below;

Dirt repellent spray

The advice is to always spray the boots with a moisture and dirt repellent spray before use. You can repeat this monthly. It ensures that moisture does not penetrate the leather and dirt is easy to remove.

Take turns

Preferably do not wear the same boots every day. Moisture and bacteria from your feet can accelerate wear. This also gives you a good reason to buy an extra pair of boots!

Boot stretchers

Use boot stretchers. This will prevent the boots from sinking or denting, which can cause damage. No boot stretchers? Use paper. This can also absorb excess moisture.

Clean with a soft brush

If the boots need treatment, clean them first with a soft brush. A hard brush can damage the leather. You can also use a cloth or sponge with (soapy) water and/or white vinegar. Make sure the boots are clean and dry before treating them further

Leather conditioner

You can treat the leather with a leather conditioner, available in both liquid and cream form. Color-based shoe polish or cream is also suitable to maintain the color of the leather.

Gloss brush

Rub the conditioner in with a soft cloth or sponge. Then let it soak in well. Excess grease can be removed with a cloth. For extra shine, a shine brush can be used.

Colored leather cream

For boots made of leather that is colored, you can also use a leather cream with the corresponding color. This can bring back the color or repair minor damage.

Impregnating spray

To extend the life of the boots, the treatment with an impregnation spray can be repeated once a month. This keeps your boots free of dirt and moisture.

Antibacterial spray

An antibacterial spray can be used to clean the inside.

Brushing

If the boots are very dirty, first remove the dirt with a soft brush. With a small brush, such as a toothbrush, you can clean the edges along the soles and the stitching on the boots well.

Damp cloth

Then wipe the boots with a clean damp cloth. Do not rinse the boots under the tap, as this will make them too wet and stains may occur.

Let boots dry

If your boots are wet, let them dry at room temperature. Leather dries out due to heat, so do not place leather boots next to a heater, fireplace or other heat source. Remove the insoles. The inside can be made by putting paper in the boots, this will absorb the moisture.

Are the boots dirty and can they no longer be cleaned with the above tips? Then use a leather grease or shoe polish in a slightly darker color to hide the stains.
